Doug Beck: 3/24/26
AHS had the pleasure of hosting Doug Beck for a conversation on innovation and national security. Beck's career spans from Silicon Valley to the Pentagon, including roles as Director of Defense Innovation Unit, Apple Vice President, Partner at McKinsey, Chief Strategy Officer at Charles Schwab, and U.S. Navy Reserve Captain. A Yale graduate and Rhodes Scholar, Beck brings a rare cross-sector perspective on the future of defense, technology, and U.S. global strategy.
John Negroponte: 2/2/26
Yale AHS had the pleasure of hosting Ambassador John D. Negroponte, the Former United States Director of National Intelligence.
Ambassador Negroponte has served at the highest levels of U.S. diplomacy and national security, including as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Ambassador to Iraq, and the first Director of National Intelligence.
General Timothy Haugh: 2/9/26
Yale AHS had the pleasure of hosting General Timothy Haugh, the former head of the National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command.
General Haugh served more than 30 years in the U.S. Air Force and intelligence community, culminating in his appointment as the 4th Commander of U.S. Cyber Command and the 19th Director of the National Security Agency.

AHS hosted Ambassador Green, former Administrator of USAID, for a discussion on the dismantling of the agency and what the future holds for the global aid community and the communities that depend on it.
Youssef Chahed: 3/3/26
AHS welcomed Youssef Chahed for a conversation on the struggles for democracy in the Middle East. Chahed served as Prime Minister of Tunisia from 2016-2020. Chahed discussed his insider reflections on Tunisia's Arab Spring, what the Middle East can learn from Tunisia's experience, and his role in navigating the challenges that so often define democratic governance in the region.
Alan Eyre: 3/4/26
AHS had the pleasure of hosting Alan Eyre for a conversation on the recent developments in Iran.Eyre is Former Director of State Dept. Iran Office, State Dept. Persian-Language Spokesperson, and JCPOA Core Negotiator. The first-ever Persian language spokesperson of the United States Department of State, Eyre brings over 40 years of experience in diplomacy, defense, and intelligence.

Asha Rangappa: 9/11/25
AHS had the pleasure of hosting Steven Cash, co-author of the U.S. Patriot Act, and Asha Rangappa, former FBI special agent, for a joint discussion on 9/11's legacy and the authoritarian threat.
Steven Cash was Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for Intelligence & Analysis at the Department of Homeland Security. He was previously Chief Counsel and Staff Director (Minority) to the U.S. Senate’s Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology, and Homeland Security, and Chief Counsel to Senator Dianne Feinstein.

Asha Rangappa is a senior lecturer at Yale University’s Jackson School of Global Affairs and a former Associate Dean at Yale Law School. Prior to her current position, Asha served as a Special Agent in the New York Division of the FBI, specializing in counterintelligence investigations
William Taylor: 10/2/25
AHS welcomed Ambassador Bill Taylor for a discussion on his service in Ukraine and his role as impeachment witness in the first inquiry of President Donald J. Trump. Ambassador Taylor is a distinguished American diplomat, military veteran, and public servant with over five decades of experience in international affairs, national security, and governance. He is best known for his service as U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine (2006–2009) under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, where he played a central role in strengthening U.S.–Ukraine relations.
Antonio Weiss: 10/23/25
AHS welcomed Antonio Weiss for a discussion on Puerto Rico and the largest debt restructuring in U.S. history. Antonio Weiss served as Counselor to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury from 2015 to 2017, where he led the Department of Domestic Finance and advised on financial markets, regulatory reform, job creation, and economic growth.

Yale AHS had the pleasure of hosting Stephen Roach, economist and former Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia, for a conversation on China's economic future. Dr. Stephen Roach joined the Yale faculty in 2010 after 30 years at Morgan Stanley, mainly as the firm’s chief economist heading up a highly regarded global team followed by several years as the Hong Kong-based Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia.
Clay Lowery: 11/13/25
AHS welcomed Clay Lowery for a discussion on U.S. economic statecraft. Clay Lowery is the Executive Vice President for Research and Policy at the Institute of International Finance (IIF), where he leads the organization’s global economic research and policy advocacy efforts. He previously served as Assistant Secretary for International Affairs at the U.S. Treasury Department (2005–2009).

Andriy Melynk: 11/18/25
Yale AHS and Ukraine House at Yale had the pleasure of hosting Ambassador Andriy Melnyk, Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and one of the country's most influential diplomats. A career jurist and international lawyer, Ambassador Melnyk has held senior posts across Ukraine’s diplomatic corps. In his current role at the UN in 2024, he represents Ukraine at the center of global diplomacy, security deliberations, and high-stakes multilateral negotiations.
Robert Schlaeger: 12/4/25
AHS had the pleasure of hosting Robert Schlaeger for a discussion on Foxconn's role in building AI infrastructure and electronics supply chains. Robert Schlaeger is a senior U.S. communications and government-affairs leader at Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn). He currently serves as Chief of Staff to the Foxconn Vice Chairman and has worked closely on Wisconsin operations and partnerships.
Garo Paylan: 11/19/25
AHS welcomed Garo Paylan, former member of Turkish Parliament and human rights activist. Mr. Paylan was among the few Armenians to serve in the Turkish Parliament from 2015-2023, and is a pragmatic advocate for minority rights in Turkey. He has received several awards for his work and has been twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Paylan is a visiting scholar with the Europe Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC, with research focusing on the South Caucasus and Turkey.
Melvin Gamble: 10/2/25
AHS welcomed Melvin Gamble for a discussion on his role as former chief of CIA's Africa Division. A retired Senior Intelligence officer, Mr. Gamble served in senior executive positions in the Directorate of Operations in the Central Intelligence Agency, including Chief and Deputy Chief of Stations in Africa and Latin America, Chief of Central Asia and the Caucasus, Special Assistant to the Associate Deputy Director of Operations, Deputy Chief of European Division, and Chief of Africa Division.
